The first thing
visitors will realize about the Museo Ernesto Che Guevara is that it is not a
museo at all. Lo primero que los
visitantes descubren sobre el Museo Ernesto Che Guevara es que no es para
nada un museo.
In fact the
museum is located inside a shop (Bagatela) owned by one of the founders of
the original museum, which was located just a few blocks away. De hecho el museo
está ubicado en el interior de un comercio “Bagatela” cuyo dueño es uno de
los fundadores de el museo original, que funcionaba a solo unas pocas cuadras
de distancia.
When hard
financial times hit Buenos Aires, the museum – one of the only true landmarks
to the memory of the famous Argentine doctor, soldier, and political
revolutionary – was forced to close its doors. Cuando tiempos económicos duros
golpearon Buenos Aires, el museo – uno de los únicos mojones reales a la
memoria del famoso argentino doctor, soldado y político revolucionario – se
vió forzado a cerrar sus puertas.
The ever dedicated
and hard-working Eladio González (whose English is far better than he claims)
scooped up some treasures and moved them to his store. El siempre dedicado y
esforzado trabajador Eladio González – cuyo inglés es bastante mejor que lo
que el sostiene – separó algunos tesoros y los mudó a su comercio.
These days, the
reason to visit is ‘Toto’ himself, who believes that Che was a man full of
love and that the world is full of ‘Ches’. Hoy día la razón de una visita
es el “Toto” mismo, quien cree que el Che fue un hombre lleno de amor y que
el mundo está lleno de “Ches”.
The store is a
sight to see with every inch, nook, cranny, and hole filled to the brim with
stuff – so much so that posters have navegated to the ceilings for lack of
wall space. El comercio es algo para admirar en donde cada pulgada, ........., ………, y
hueco llenos hasta el borde con mercadería – y es tan así que hasta los
posters navegaron hasta los cielorrasos por falta de espacios en las paredes.
The front is an
antiques store and in the back Toto’s sons sell games, records, and more
while making photocopies and keeping things in order. Al frente el negocio
de antigüedades y en el fondo los hijos de Toto venden juegos, discos de
vinilo y mucho más mientras hacen fotocopias y mantienen las cosas en orden.
While I was
visiting, a man wandered in off the street and asked for something from él
que vende todo (the one who sells everything). Mientras yo visitaba
el lugar, un hombre entró desde la calle y preguntó por “el que vende todo”.
Those who find
the place on their search for Che will not be
disappointed.
Quienes descubran el
lugar buscando al Che no se sentirán defraudados.
Eladio will
happily produce photographs, pins, stories, drawing, and other Che
memorabilia and talk about why, lamentably, the government has painted a
negative picture of the Argentine legend since his assination in Bolivia in
1967, largely reported to have been backed by the CIA. Eladio alegremente
exhibirá fotos, pines, anécdotas, dibujos y otras remembranzas sobre el Che y
contará como lamentablemente, el gobierno ha
dibujado
una figura negativa del argentino legendario, desde su asesinato en Bolivia
en 1967, crimen reportado ampliamente de haber sido respaldado por la
CIA.
Wiling away a
few hours listening to Toto’s stories of hardship, politics, friends,
history, and inexplicable relentless optimism will not be misspent. Unas pocas horas
atendiendo a las historias de Toto sobre..........., política, amigos,
historia y un inexplicable……. optimismo no serán desaprovechadas.
The man is
keyed in to the pulsing heart of the city and will give advice on anything
and everything visitors wish to explore and experience. El hombre está
sintonizado al latir del corazón de la ciudad y sugerirá aconsejando sobre
una o todas las cosas que el visitante desee explorar y experimentar.
It’s possible to
even learn a thing or two about the legend that is still very alive here even
today in Argentina – Ernesto 'Che' Guevara. Y es posible aprender una o dos
cosas sobre la leyenda que todavía está muy viva aquí, aún hoy en Argentina
- Ernesto Che Guevara.

El Rey del trabajo "en
blanco"

El gobierno argentino anhela
terminar con el trabajo "en negro". Deberían aprender de Cuba, pues
allá el compañero Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz logró que todos los negros
"trabajen en blanco" y los blancos "también".
