DECLARACION POLÍTICA CONJUNTA,

EN EL QUINTO ANIVERSARIO DE LA AGRESIÓN IMPERIALISTA CONTRA IRAQ

Al cumplirse el quinto aniversario de la agresión contra Iraq por tropas de la coalición liderada por Estados Unidos, el Movimiento Cubano por la Paz y la Soberanía de los Pueblos, la Organización de Solidaridad de los Pueblos de África, Asia y América Latina, el Centro de Estudios de Información para la Defensa y el Centro Memorial Martín Luther King Jr; expresamos nuestra mas profunda solidaridad con el pueblo iraquí y condenamos la ocupación militar de Estados Unidos y sus aliados.

La descarada y cínica ocupación de Iraq por el gobierno norteamericano, violando la Carta de las Naciones Unidas, pisoteando la voluntad de la humanidad y de la opinión pública mundial, ha ocasionado al pueblo iraquí alrededor de 600 mil muertos de su población civil, entre los que se encuentran en su inmensa mayoría, niños, mujeres y ancianos.

La mentira y la deshonestidad como política en su accionar internacional, enmascarada en la lucha contra la eliminación de supuestas armas de exterminio masivo en posesión de gobiernos satanizados por sus mezquinos intereses políticos y sus propios medios mediáticos por la administración norteamericana de George Bush, ha privado a nuestros pueblos de los más elementales derechos humanos, como el derecho a la soberanía y a la autodeterminación.

En su más repudiante desvergüenza, están las vejaciones de las cárceles de Abu Ghraib, en Bagdad y la de Guantánamo, y el traslado aéreo ilegal y secreto de prisioneros en complicidad con gobiernos europeos, los que pretenden autoproclamarse veladores de la justicia mundial con disfraz democrático.

Testigos del holocausto que el gobierno de Estados Unidos y sus aliados llevan a cabo contra el pueblo iraquí, poseedor de la segunda reserva mundial de petróleo bajo su suelo, espectadores de los asesinatos del pueblo palestino por el sionismo israelí apoyado por Estados Unidos, y conocedores de las violaciones del pueblo afgano por las tropas de la coalición, declaramos:

Ø Condenamos la presencia de tropas extranjeras, militares y mercenarios contratados por agencias de seguridad en Iraq, que laceran la dignidad de su pueblo.

Ø Apoyamos con nuestra más sentida y sincera solidaridad al pueblo iraquí y en especial a las familias enlutadas por los llamados "daños colaterales" que el imperio no cesa de sumar en su ya ampliada lista de asesinatos.

Ø Denunciamos las violaciones de los ocupantes norteamericanos y exigimos el derecho del pueblo iraquí a la soberanía y la autodeterminación

Ø Exigimos la salida incondicional de las tropas norteamericanas del territorio iraquí.



Como defensores de la paz, la amistad, la soberanía y la solidaridad de los pueblos, hacemos un llamado a la comunidad internacional para aunar fuerzas y reclamar el derecho del pueblo iraquí a vivir en paz, y que en bienestar pueda retomar sus tradiciones y cultura milenaria, que tanto aportó a la cultura universal en sus relaciones con los demás pueblos del mundo en el ejercicio de su plena independencia.



¡Viva la hermandad entre los pueblos del Mundo!

¡Fin a la ocupación militar extranjera de Iraq!

¡Solidaridad con el hermano pueblo iraquí!

JOINT POLITICAL DECLARATION,

ON THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE IMPERIALIST AGGRESSION AGAINST IRAQ



On the 5th anniversary of the aggression against Iraq by troops of the coalition led by the United States; we, the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples, the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America, the Center of Studies on Information for the Defense of Cuba and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center, express our deepest solidarity with the Iraqi people and condemn the military occupation by the United States and its allies.



The shameless and cynical occupation of Iraq by the United States government, in violation of the Charter of the United Nations, trampling on the will of mankind and on world public opinion, has caused the Iraqi people around 600 000 dead among its civil population, the great majority of which are children, women and old age persons.



The U.S. administration of George Bush, using lies and dishonesty as policies in its international actions, masking them in the struggle for the elimination of weapons of mass extermination allegedly in possession of governments demonized by their miserable political interests and their own media resources, has deprived our peoples of the most elementary human rights, such as the right to sovereignty and self-determination.



Most despicable and impudent are the vexations imposed in the prisons of Abu Ghraib, Baghdad and Guantánamo, and the illegal and secret air transfer of prisoners in complicity with European governments, which pretend to proclaim themselves guardians of world justice under a democratic disguise.



As witnesses of the holocaust that the government of the United States and its allies are carrying out against the Iraqi people, owner of the second largest oil reserve in its subsoil; witnesses of the murders perpetrated against the Palestine people by the Israeli Zionism supported by the United States, and conscious of the violations committed by the coalition troops against the Afghan people, we declare:



Ø We condemn the presence of foreign military troops and mercenaries engaged by security agencies in Iraq, which lacerate the dignity of its people.

Ø We support with our most heartfelt and sincere solidarity the Iraqi people and particularly the families in mourn because of the so-called “collateral damage” which the empire does not cease to add to its already extensive list of murders.

Ø We denounce the violations of the U.S. occupants and demand the right of the Iraqi people to sovereignty and self-determination.

Ø We demand the unconditional retreat of the U.S. troops from Iraqi territory.



As defendants of peace, friendship, sovereignty and solidarity among the peoples, we call upon the international community to join forces and demand the right of the Iraqi people to live in peace and welfare, in order that it may recover its age-old traditions and culture that contributed so much to universal culture and exercise its relations to the remaining peoples of the world with full independence.


Long live the brotherhood among the peoples of the world!

End the foreign military occupation of Iraq now!
