Asunto: Israel's bulldozers won't stop our drive for freedom
Dear Eladio Gonz,
Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted for a McCarthyite, anti-Palestinian resolution targeting the BDS movement for Palestinian rights. The resolution, based on lies, passed while Israeli military bulldozers were busy demolishing tens of Palestinian homes in occupied East Jerusalem.
Heavy machinery from Caterpillar, Hyundai Heavy Industries, JCB and Volvo was used in Israel's latest episode of ethnic cleansing against Palestinians.
I am writing today to ask for your support to help the BDS movement end corporate complicity in Israeli crimes.
With this latest repressive measure, Congress is not just shielding Israel from accountability for perpetrating the crimes of ethnic cleansing and apartheid against Palestinians. It is also desperately trying to silence the growing US base of advocates of Palestinian rights and to undermine BDS, the most effective form of solidarity with our struggle for those rights.
Despite this repressive anti-BDS attack in Congress, the impact of the BDS movement, that I helped to co-found in 2005, continues to grow. It is an effective, morally-consistent form of peaceful resistance that has included successful campaigns against institutional and corporate accomplices in Israel's crimes, including Veolia, Orange, G4S, HP, AXA, HSBC, among others.
BDS is winning support from trade unions, churches, artists, student groups, LGBTQI communities, academic associations, communities of color and indigenous movements struggling for justice. Israel's apartheid policies are being exposed to the world, and its alliance with far-right racist regimes around the world is becoming clearer than ever.
The BDS movement relies on your donations to fend off attacks and multiply its impact.
Israel's far-right government, on the other hand, relies increasingly on white supremacist, racist and patently anti-semitic forces in the U.S., Europe, Brazil and elsewhere for support and cover in carrying out its crimes against Palestinians.
We are counting on your support to continue to challenge Israel's regime of oppression, and its far-right allies worldwide.
Donate today to support the struggle for Palestinian freedom, justice and equality.
Sincerely,
Omar Barghouti, co-founder of the BDS movement for Palestinian rights.
