The Occupation escalates destruction of homes and mass killings in Gaza


Wave of Demolitions in the West Bank leave 75 people homeless
Yesterday, Occupation forces carried out a widespread demolition operation across the West Bank. Communities in the Jordan Valley were the hardest hit, although people in the Qalqiliya district were also affected. [MORE]

Demonstrations for Gaza continue in Ramallah
This afternoon, more demonstrations occurred in the Ramallah area to protest the Occupation’s ongoing crimes in Gaza. Around 200 young students from al-Bireh secondary school, mostly girls, marched through central Ramallah in solidarity with the people of Gaza. [MORE]

Protests across the West Bank as the Occupation continues assault on Gaza
Over the past days, Palestinians in the West Bank have reacted to the Occupation’s massacre in Gaza with outrage with protests and street clashes between youth and soldiers. [MORE]

Confiscation orders in Hebron area to pave the way for the Apartheid Wall
On February 28th, Occupation forces distributed military orders to the farmers of al-Dhahriya and Dura, both located to the southwest of Hebron, which will pave the way for the confiscation of their land. [MORE]

The Occupation destroys two homes in Beit Hanina
On February 24th, the Occupation military demolished two homes located in the Wad al-Dam neighborhood in Beit Hanina. The homes belonged to the brothers Nidal and Shadi Muttwar and were still being constructed. [MORE]

Homes in northern Arab al-Ramadin threatened with demolition
Occupation forces delivered five military orders to five homes in northern Arab al-Ramadin on the 19th of February. The threatened homes are built of canvas, wood and sheet iron and provide shelter for 15 people, all of whom are part of a large extended family. [MORE]

Occupation forces threaten the home of a disabled man in Jabara
Occupation forces issued a military order to Theyab Abdullah, calling for the demolition of his home. His home is in Kharbet Jabara, south of Tulkarm. The village is isolated behind the Apartheid Wall and population suffers under strict laws that severely limit movement in and out of the area. [MORE]

The Occupation closes main road to ‘Azzun

The Occupation commenced confiscation work on the 16th of February, bulldozing land belonging ‘Azzun to facilitate the continued closure that cuts off the village from the historic Nablus - Qalqiliya road. [MORE]

The attack on Jerusalem continues: another Palestinian home destroyed
On February 11th, Occupation forces destroyed the home of ‘Ashia ‘Aramin. The home, which was located in occupied Jerusalem, was demolished without prior warnings had been issued. [MORE]

Demolitions across the West Bank destroy homes and livelihoods
Occupation forces carried out large scale demolitions all across the West Bank, destroying five homes and a number of agricultural and commercial buildings. [MORE]

Israeli Apartheid Week: packed conference at al-Quds University calls for academic boycott
This year for the first time students in Palestine joined the Israeli Apartheid Week. The main conference was organized by activists within the al-Quds University in Jerusalem on Monday the 11th of February. A panel of academics campaigning for boycott were invited to address the students and university staff. [MORE]

Hajj Suleiman and his grandson: witnessing the ongoing Nakba
Osama ‘Amad Suleiman Hazahaza is seven years old and lives in the village of Far’un, south of Tulkarm. What is happening today to Osama’s family is sadly similar to the experiences of his grandfather, Hajj Suleiman, who was forcefully expelled from his home in the village of Qalansuwa in 1948 by armed Zionist gangs. Now, 60 years on, Osama too faces the threat of expulsion from his home. The Occupation has called for the demolition of his family home, ostensibly because it lacks the proper permit. [MORE]

Symposium at Hawaii University links the people's struggles against colonialism
The University of Hawaii held a symposium entitled “Understanding the Nakba” that lasted from February 26th until March 14th. A number of lectures and films, along with open discussions, dealt with the history of Palestine, the present structure of apartheid in the country, and the links between Hawaii and Palestine. India’s progressive parties unite: stop military ties with Israel
On Wednesday, March 5 2008, progressive parties blasted the Indian government in a press conference, accusing it of “aiding and abetting” Israel in its attacks on Palestine and calling for an end to military and security ties. [MORE]

Divestment campaign successes in London School of Economics
The London School of Economics Student Union (LSESU) voted on February 14th to call on the university as well as the National Union of Students to divest from companies that provide military and commercial support for Occupation, which is nearing it’s 60th year. [MORE]

Boycott Israel protests on Valentine's Day
To mark Valentine’s Day, protests have occurred in the UK, Belgium and the United States. Carmel-Agrexco and Leviev jewellery stores were the targets, as diamonds and flowers are central products in Valentine’s Day consumption. [MORE]

Turin Book Fair: Union of Palestinian Writers and Intellectuals protest Italy’s invitation to Apartheid Israel
The General Union of Palestinian Writers and Intellectuals rejected the Italian decision to host the Occupation state, on account of its 60th year, as a guest of honour at the Turin Book Fair. [MORE]
